"The department conduct research and education in topics related to interactions between humans and their environmental, social and spatial conditions. We take a holistic approach to solving complex environmental and societal problems. Due to the integration of traditional disciplines we can provide novel perspectives and solutions to these problems. We explore the human, the social and the environmental dynamics over a broad range of temporal: Past, present and future, and spatial: Local, regional and global scales. The Department hosts programmes in Environmental Biology, Geography, Technological & Socioeconomic Planning (TekSam), and in Health Promotion and Health Strategies." TekSam, for example, is working on the topic: "technological development and related environmental, health and resource problems."
