Direktor: Prof. Dr. Andreas Wenger
The Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich was established in 1986 and is headquartered in Zurich. It is a nonpartisan institution engaged in the study of Swiss and international security studies. Since 1997, the CSS together with the political science chairs of ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich has been part of the Center for Comparative and International Studies (CIS). The CSS aims to conduct high quality, independent research and, based on that research, to provide practical recommendations. Its activities are structured into the four pillars of research, teaching, think tank, and information services in the form of the International Relations and Security Network (ISN). The Center has an extensive network of 306 national and international partners from science, policy, the media, and the private sector. Since September 2002, Professor Andreas Wenger has been the director of the CSS. He is professor of International and Swiss Security Policy at ETH Zurich and serves as delegate for the Master of Advanced Studies in Security Policy and Crisis Management (MAS ETH SPCM) and the Bachelor in Public Policy of the Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences at ETH Zurich. The Center today employs 81 staff members.
