History at Canterbury offers a wide range of undergraduate courses from four main geographical groupings: Asia; America; Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific; Britain and Europe. However, some thematic courses range widely across geographical boundaries, most notably Global History, Emancipations, Asian Empires, Medieval Crusades, and advanced courses in Health History, Social History, Feminist History and Biography. Though the department has a strong New Zealand research emphasis, opportunities for postgraduate research are not confined to New Zealand. The site offers information on the department, including its staff, research, courses, programs, and degrees. In addition, there are links to the Canterbury Historical Association and to an affiliated journal, History Now.
