"This website presents the results and progress of the international
research project "The Rise of Modern Constitutionalism, 1776-1849" by making
available to the public all constitutional documents from that era. It is
also the web portal of De Gruyter Saur's large-scale publication venture
Constitutions of the World from the late 18th Century to the Middle of the
19th Century / Sources on the Rise of Modern Constitutionalism.
There are more 1,400 documents in our collection. These documents are freely
available and searchable as facsimile (more than 27,000 pages) of the
original print or manuscript. There are also more than 1,000 authoritative
electronic editions online (more than 12,000 pages) with in-depth search and
navigational functions, available for registered users. The collection is
updated continuously, so the number of
available documents is still increasing.
Reviews and commentary are also available. "The Rise of Modern
Constitutionalism, 1776-1849" is an international research project involving
approximately 50 scholars worldwide as well as some of the finest research
institutions in constitutional history, documentation and information, and
digital libraries. It is led by Professor Horst Dippel (University of
Kassel, Germany) and is made possible through generous long-term funding by
the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG)."
