"This website presents the results and progress of the international research project "The Rise of Modern Constitutionalism, 1776-1849" by making available to the public all constitutional documents from that era. It is also the web portal of De Gruyter Saur's large-scale publication venture Constitutions of the World from the late 18th Century to the Middle of the 19th Century / Sources on the Rise of Modern Constitutionalism. There are more 1,400 documents in our collection. These documents are freely available and searchable as facsimile (more than 27,000 pages) of the original print or manuscript. There are also more than 1,000 authoritative electronic editions online (more than 12,000 pages) with in-depth search and navigational functions, available for registered users. The collection is updated continuously, so the number of available documents is still increasing. Reviews and commentary are also available. "The Rise of Modern Constitutionalism, 1776-1849" is an international research project involving approximately 50 scholars worldwide as well as some of the finest research institutions in constitutional history, documentation and information, and digital libraries. It is led by Professor Horst Dippel (University of Kassel, Germany) and is made possible through generous long-term funding by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG)."
