"The CEGES/SOMA, Centre for Historical Research and Documentation on War and Contemporary Society, is a federal scientific institution at the service of students, teachers, researchers, the public and the media. [...] Tasks of the institute: - to collect, preserve and study archives and all original documents relating to the Second World War, its antecedents and its consequences, in accordance with the legislation relating to public archives; - to produce and make available to the public scientific documentation relating to the study of war and contemporary societies; - to take all necessary measures to facilitate and to organise scientific research in this field, particularly in collaboration with Belgian universities and scientific institutions."
