U.S. Army Military History Institute

The mission of the Military History Institute (MHI) is to preserve the Army's history by ensuring access to historical research materials. MHI serves as the primary research facility for the historical study of the U.S. Army in order to foster a greater understanding of the Army's role in our nation's history and in its future.To fulfill this mission, MHI collects, organizes, preserves, and makes available, source materials on American military history to the defense community, researchers, and scholars. Apart from information about MHI's activities the site offers online access to finding aids (bibliographies, catalog databases) and historic documents.
