"Welcome to Imperial College Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine (CHoSTM) website. The history of science and technology has been taught and researched at Imperial College since 1963 and CHoSTM in its current form was established in 1992. The Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine achieved a rating of 5A in the Research Assessment Excercise (RAE) 2001. This places CHoSTM's research activity amongst the top rating history departments in the UK. The research interests in CHoSTM are wide ranging and include: * Science and technology in ancient Greece and Rome, early modern mathematics and mechanics * Historiography of technology, science policy, war and technology and the British State * Early modern science and religion, natural philosophy at the Royal Society, Isaac Newton * History of the life and human sciences since the Enlightenment, the bacteriological revolution * History of the exact science since 1800, mathematical physics and pedagogy in Victorian Cambridge
