Program in Science and Technology Studies [University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign]

"As science and technology increasingly pervade and define our culture, questions concerning them become pressing: how does science work? how are science, technology, and society related to each other? How are our lives being restructured around advances in information systems and medicine? The University of Illinois is at the forefront of work in the social sciences and humanities addressed to such questions, and the Program exists to support research, academic collaboration, and interdisciplinary graduate training in this area. A broad network of faculty members from across the university, a range of academic projects, and strong links to other units on campus provide a rich intellectual environment and many opportunities for research, course work and associated activities. The program includes a colloquium and workshop series with invited national and international figures, informal reading and discussion groups, a core graduate seminar, specialized advanced courses, a graduate dissertation workshop, and a listserv for announcements and discussion."
