Digital Scriptorium

The Digital Scriptorium is a joint project of the Bancroft Library (UC Berkeley) and the Rare Book and Manuscript Library of Columbia University to digitize and make available on the World Wide Web the two universities' medieval and early Renaissance manuscript holdings. The Scriptorium "will comprise a database of some 10,000 images by December 1998. The database will contain at least one image (usually more) from each of the almost 700 codices and 2000 documents (8th - 16th century) held by the Bancroft Library and RBML." This site offers information about the digitization process and provides a searchable test database.
