By

Zissman, Mark A.

Between 1922 and 1939, Wolf Lewkowicz, of Konskie, Lodz and Opoczno, Poland, engaged in a lengthy and intimate correspondence in Yiddish with Sol J. Zissman, his deceased sister's son, who was born in Konskie, Poland, and who had immigrated to the United States as an 11-year old boy prior to World War I. The site gives access to 175 transcribed letters containing information about the economic and social situations of the jews in Poland in the years before the second world war.
