A History of the Crusades

By

Setton, Kenneth M.

Digital version of the 6 volumes "A History of the Crusades", ed. Kenneth M. Setton. The work, originally "published by the University of Wisconsin Press over a twenty year period beginning in 1969, was intended to serve as a collaborative and comprehensive treatment of the topic, ranging in time from the first 99e years of the Crusades to their ultimate impact on the histories of the Near East and Europe. The work is comprised of six volumes, each of which is included here in its entirety. It is hoped that the search features of the History of the Crusades database will be a convenient aid to scholarship and study. Both the individual volumes and the series as a whole can be browsed and searched by keyword. However, the underlying computer text used in the search process consists of unedited files created by using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software. Consequently, the search capability is useful but not absolutely reliable in locating words and terms used in the texts. Users are advised to consult the table of contents and indexes in the individual volumes in order to conduct a thorough search for specific information in the texts." [self-description]
